There’s a lot that’s covered in this video and, inevitably, it’s long. That’s a problem when you’re trying to target youth. Point Blank’s Creative team put together an engaging storyboard for me to work with and, with lots of back and forth, I animated sections to life and cut together footage into a humorous and information video.
Alongside the full video are cut downs featuring some of the most intriguing parts of the video. These allow The Squamish Nation to show off their video on their social channels, driving to the full explainer video.
Learning Outcomes
This project was slowed down by a lack of communication that can be common when freelancing for an agency. It’s easy to feel like everyone is looped in and forget that the animator on the sidelines isn’t part of the daily huddle. This along with confusion over the storyboards added to the timeline. In the future, I will clarify my expectation that storyboards are final and approved and be more proactive about communication on my end, instead of hoping I have all the information.
